The non-governmental organization Usawa Agenda in collaboration with various social organizations in the coastal region has launched a special report known as Foundation Literacy and Numeracy Assessment FLANA with an assessment of education levels in the coastal region.

This is after a study conducted in all 47 counties in the country last year to assess the levels of reading, writing and arithmetic among children aged between 6-16 years to stimulate evidence-based policies that could lead to equal learning for all children.

The coordinator of the organization Usawa Agenda Kwale county who is also a member of the social organization Kwale Youth and Governance Consortium KYGC Amani Lugogo said that the study included 230 villages, 6,348 houses, 3,016 children and 226 schools along the coast.
